Optimus Primeby ~Boy-Meets-Hero

The "Big Bot" himself, Optimus Prime!

This started out as a black and white commission for the owner of Lobo Comics here in Albuquerque. He hired me to come up with a flier for a collector-con that was going to happen this summer. I liked the line art so much I decided to colorize it in Photoshop just for fun.

I've got tons of Transformer figures and plenty of various Optimus Primes. He's always the one Autobot I'm most excited to get every time a new line is released. I really like his color scheme and his head design is way cool. He's such a classic looking character.

So for this drawing I referenced two Optimus Prime figures. My tiny little, non-transforming "Revoltech" Prime and my "Transformers Classics" Prime. This is pretty much an amalgam of the two. I liked certain elements of both and combined them into one. I guess that sorta makes him a combiner! lol well... not really...

Anyway, I threw together a nifty background for him using various pieces I had on file. The ground is something I created in Illustrator a couple of years ago and I was able to use it here.

Lovely colors! And the background's nice too, but doesn't take away from the main focus or clutter the picture. Awesome work!
